Credits and Merits are different No More Room in Hell 2 currencies. Credits are tied to mission value, especially Supplies brought through final extraction, and pay for loadout items, Skills, and customization. Merits are a free currency exclusive to Weekly Assignments and provide another route to selected cosmetics and powerful items such as the Rescue Beacon. Plan them separately; one is a repeated deployment economy, while the other is gated by the current weekly task set.
Compare the two currencies
Do not convert an Early Access screenshot into a current price list. The 1.0 reset removed previous Credits, Responders, loadouts, most cosmetics, and other progression so everyone started the new economy together. Prices were reassessed before launch, and the August 13 post adjusted availability or costs for several loadout items again.
Turn Supplies into useful Credit value
Supplies are a team mission resource visible near the inventory wheel. Final extraction grants character experience and Credits equal to the team’s collected Supplies under the current launch overview. Rare forms can provide a larger return while taking inventory space, so their nominal value must be weighed against medicine, ammunition, and objective items.
Collect Supplies along a safe objective route rather than sending one player into every building. The value belongs at extraction, and an isolated carrier can cost the group more through rescue attempts than the item returns. Share knowledge of rare Supplies and decide who has safe inventory capacity.
Early extraction is preservation, not efficient farming. It gives no character progression and only a small portion of Credits. Use it when leaving saves a Responder who would otherwise be lost. A safe partial return can still be the correct economic decision when the alternative is a high probability of death.
Difficulty affects earnings. Hard raises the current 1.0 Credit multiplier to 150%, and Nightmare raises it to 200%. Those values only help when the run produces a suitable outcome. Repeated permanent losses, consumed loadout items, and failed extractions can erase the apparent benefit of selecting a harder tier too soon.
Complete the weekly Merit set
Armageddon provides four Weekly Assignments. Three tasks each offer one Merit plus Credits, and an overarching goal provides three Merits. The published reset is Tuesday. Read all four before deploying so map, mode, weapon, or teamwork progress can overlap.
The pre-launch economy blog describes a full set as yielding 2,000 Credits and six Merits, while the final 1.0 notes clarify the structure of the four tasks. Use the live interface for the current task wording and displayed payout, because weekly objectives are designed to change and future balance patches can adjust values.
Stack compatible tasks
If an Assignment, a map achievement, and a Responder milestone fit one Normal run, prepare that route together.
Do not force a bad run
A weekly objective is not worth losing a specialist by using the wrong weapon or abandoning extraction.
Check Tuesday timing
Finish and claim current work before the displayed reset; do not rely only on a timezone assumption.
Verify the live reward
Use the Assignment card’s current Credits and Merits instead of an old article or screenshot.
Spend for survival and identity
Use Credits on gear when it gives a Responder a defined answer for the next mission. Use them on Expert Skills when the upgrade supports an active build. Reserve enough to recover from loss rather than concentrating the whole economy on one character.
Merits can streamline cosmetic purchases or buy selected power items. The Rescue Beacon is the most important overlap: it prevents one otherwise permanent Responder loss, consumes a loadout slot, and is used up. Compare its cost with the value of the specific character and the risk of the planned deployment.
Cosmetics express identity but do not need to be justified as power progression. Four separate Steam cosmetic DLC packs exist outside the base-game economy and should not be treated as sources of base-game mechanics. Purchases in those packs do not prove a gameplay advantage.
Audit the economy after each run
Record the difficulty, extraction type, team Supplies, Credits gained, Assignment progress, and major purchase. This reveals whether the group earns more by completing familiar Normal runs than by failing higher multipliers. It also catches stale assumptions after a patch.
Use Extraction for Early versus Final, Responder Loadouts for purchases, and Difficulty for the exact Account XP, Character XP, and Credit multipliers.
