No More Room in Hell 2 Firearms

Choose and use No More Room in Hell 2 firearms by caliber, handling, range, ammunition weight, penetration, reload risk, and mission role.

Firearms in No More Room in Hell 2 are emergency problem-solvers, not unlimited primary damage. The current combat model distinguishes guns through caliber, weight, recoil, spread, range, handling, and penetration. Ammunition is intentionally harder to hoard, and Armageddon 1.0 makes the amount already inside a found firearm vary with difficulty. Judge a weapon by the mission problem it solves and the compatible rounds the squad can sustain.

Choose a firearm by role

Role
Useful traits
Main tradeoff
Sidearm
Compact inventory use, controllable opening shots, quick access while carrying a broader kit.
Lower caliber or capacity may struggle against armor and groups.
Shotgun
Strong close-range lane control and high impact when a corridor collapses.
Weight, limited capacity, reload exposure, and reduced value beyond intended range.
Rifle
Caliber, penetration, and aimed accuracy for distant or protected threats.
Inventory weight, recoil, and costly ammunition make waste expensive.
Submachine gun
Follow-up capability and close-range response when controlled deliberately.
Fast fire can empty scarce ammunition before recoil and spread recover.
Lever or specialty gun
A distinct cadence or caliber that can cover a loadout gap.
Reload method and matching ammo may not suit every objective.

Official current and recent notes name handguns such as the Model 13, M9A3, and M1911; rifles including the M7A1 and MC-15; the MP5; shotguns including the 590A1, Fierra DB12, and X12 Super; and weapons such as the Rochester 1873 and Gruber variants. This is not presented as a guaranteed complete spawn database. Read the item name, ammo label, and current UI in the Armageddon build before using a stat from an older guide.

Aim the first shot and respect recovery

The Revelation firearm overhaul made aim-down-sights accuracy more important and described opening shots as the best accuracy window. Let spread and recoil settle instead of turning every weapon into full-auto panic fire. Crouching can improve control in a desperate moment, but only when the position remains safe from side approaches.

Hipfire still exists, yet the developers warn that most ammunition types become unreliable with it. Use hipfire to create immediate space at a distance the weapon can cover, then move or return to a deliberate sight picture. If the team is holding a doorway, stand offset so misses and penetration do not endanger another Responder’s line.

Sprinting now interrupts firearm reloads in Armageddon. Begin a reload only when another player owns the lane or a retreat path exists. For individually loaded weapons, decide whether the rounds already present are enough for the next interaction; topping off in the middle of a breach can be worse than switching to melee.

Match caliber and penetration to the target

Caliber affects recoil, damage identity, weight, and armor penetration. The official overhaul says a bullet that exceeds the required penetrative value can continue through zombie-worn gear and reach the target with reduced damage. A visible helmet or vest therefore changes the aiming and weapon decision. Repeatedly spending weak rounds into protection may be less efficient than changing angle, target, or tool.

Do not reduce the system to “largest caliber wins.” A heavy gun and its ammunition consume inventory space needed for medicine, objective carryables, or a second role. Smaller weapons can provide more control in their intended distance. The best choice is the one whose ammunition exists in the squad and whose recoil the user can manage under pressure.

Difficulty also changes scarcity. Armageddon says firearms can spawn with varying ammo amounts based on difficulty, and its wider ammo tuning leans more on unloading weapons. Check found guns before promising their magazine state. When the current interface permits unloading, announce useful rounds rather than carrying an empty weapon that another teammate could feed.

Share ammunition and avoid duplicate burdens

Identify before taking

Read the caliber and compare it with both held weapons. A rare box is dead weight if nobody can use it.

Consolidate deliberately

Give compatible ammunition to the player controlling that gun, but keep the team from relying on one person for every ranged answer.

Preserve an escape magazine

Do not spend the last reliable rounds on an avoidable crowd before a carry, revive, or extraction sequence.

Unload with context

State the gun and caliber, unload only when safe, and confirm the rounds enter inventory before leaving the weapon.

Use melee against isolated threats when space and stamina make it safe. Firearms should interrupt a dangerous approach, protect an operator, remove an armored threat, or reopen a lane. This division keeps ranged power available for moments when retreat is impossible.

Practice and achievement targets

Solo mode is ideal for learning sight picture, recoil, reload cadence, and inventory cost because it has no permadeath. Test one weapon at a consistent distance and change only the attachment or firing rhythm. Solo does not reproduce online latency or teammate movement, so repeat a short check in Beginner before trusting a high-level Responder.

Steam achievements provide deliberate firearm exercises: Range Day requires 500 firearm kills; Nice Shootin’, Tex requires six Model 13 headshots without a reload or weapon switch; and Cowboy Action Shooter combines Model 13, Rochester 1873, and Fierra DB12 kill targets in one match. Attempt them only when the squad agrees and the challenge does not compromise an objective.

Use Weapon Attachments for optics and suppressors, Melee Weapons for ammunition-saving combat, and Responder Loadouts for what to purchase before deployment.
